Your support can help me recover, reconnect my utilities, and make my home livable again after a devastating setback.
Hi, my name is Mandy, and I’m reaching out for help and support to get my home back into livable condition after a very difficult few months.
About five months ago, I was in a terrible car accident that left me with severe leg injuries requiring surgery, metal rods, plates, and screws to hold my bones together. The recovery process has been long and painful. For several months, I was wheelchair-bound and completely dependent on others for daily needs. I’m finally beginning to walk again, but I still struggle with balance, swelling, and pain.
Because I couldn’t care for myself after the accident, I had to move in with my parents during recovery. During that time, I wasn’t able to work or earn any income. Unfortunately, while I was gone, my home fell into disrepair. My utilities — power, water, gas, and internet — were shut off due to nonpayment, and the bills continued to grow.
The summer heat, combined with no electricity or air flow, caused severe mold and mildew damage throughout the house, ruining much of my furniture, including my living room couches and rugs. Now that I’m finally able to start moving back home, I’m faced with the overwhelming task of restoring what’s been lost and making the house livable again — all while still recovering physically and financially.
This fundraiser means more to me than just fixing a house — it’s about rebuilding my life and being able to have my children come stay with me again. Right now, the home’s condition isn’t safe or suitable for them to visit, and that’s been one of the hardest parts of this entire ordeal. Getting the utilities restored, cleaning out the mold, and replacing what was damaged will allow me to have them back home with me where they belong.
I’m asking for your help to raise $5,000 to cover:
Past-due utility bills and reconnection fees
Deposits required to restore power, water, gas, and internet
Replacing basic household furniture and necessities
Cleaning and repairing mold damage
Food and essential household supplies
Portions of medical expenses not covered by insurance
A few months of utilities while I regain stability
This has been one of the hardest times of my life, but I’m determined to rebuild and move forward. Any amount of support — big or small — would mean the world to me. Your kindness will help me get back on my feet, both literally and figuratively, and help bring my kids back home.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for any help you can give. Even sharing my campaign helps more than you know. ❤️
