Yesterday, on May 1st, I was released from prison after serving a decade. At 32, I am starting over with nothing and facing the challenges of reentering society. My father has given me a place to stay, but he lives on social security and struggles to make ends meet. I am not looking for a handout, but rather seeking mercy and compassion as I work to rebuild my life.
The funds from this fundraiser will help me get the essentials I need to start over: clothes, hygiene items, my birth certificate, and an identification card. I also hope to save for a vehicle so I can find work and become independent. My father's house has roof damage and black mold in the ceiling, which is affecting his health, so some of the funds will go toward fixing our home. Food is very scarce in our household, and with me now living here, it is even more critical. Your support will help us buy groceries and cover basic living expenses until I can get a job and become stable.
I am a dedicated Christian and have made a promise to God to give back by becoming a public speaker and mentor to youth, sharing my story to help others avoid the mistakes I made. I am struggling with my mental health and adjusting to life outside, but I am committed to making a positive change in my community.
