Starlight Stroll in Memory of Jessica
On the 19th October, we (Myself, Mum, Dad, Connor, Jim, Niamh & Michael) will be joining The Hospice in the Weald for a 6k Starlight Stroll in memory of our beautiful Jessica.
The care and support from the hospice has been beyond amazing for Jessica and for us as a family and as a start to our fundraising for the Hospice we ask for your support, to help us, to help them do what they do, day in and day out.
Jessica spent a total of 19 days at the hospice where she was cared for by the most amazing staff and volunteers, as a family we were welcome 24/7, Connor spent almost every Day and night there. We felt so welcome that we were able to use the grounds as our own to create the best atmosphere and surroundings for Jess. We had picnics, we regularly had her room full of people were we had late night chats with Jess’ friends and family, we were welcome to eat the food offered by the hospice and we would often grab pizzas or fish & chips to take in and if Jessica wasn’t feeling up to it we would sit in the courtyard as a family, we spent time in the summerhouse where the kids could run around and play with toys. Jess was able to do activities and have therapies if she wished, she had many visits from kittens and puppies.
We wouldn’t have been able to do any of this and create memories for Jess if it wasn’t for the care and support from the hospice.
90p of every £1 raised is spent directly on patient care and fundraising helps to ensure that all Hospice in the Weald patients, their families and carers will always receive care that is completely free of charge. By raising £100 through sponsorship, it could fund a Therapy Assistant for a day. The Therapy Assistants provide patients with a range of therapies to help ease any stress or discomfort and provide a relaxing experience.

More information about Hospice in the Weald: Hospice in the Weald provides care to patients with a terminal illness, their families and carers in West Kent and Northern East Sussex. We are there 24 hours a day to help, support and care for patients with an illness where a cure is no longer possible, or where patients will at some stage die from their illness. The care we provide is completely free of charge to our patients, their families and carers. We are not part of the NHS, and we need to raise 7 million pounds every year to fund our services.
