Starbuck's emergency surgery fund

Hi, my name is Elyse and my partner, Chelsi, and I are currently fundraising to help cover costs for our sweet boy Starbuck's recent emergency surgery.

Buckie is the absolute sweetest, most joyful pup who greets us each day with cuddles and his little "songs" - he turned 11 at the start of this year and is as full of energy and life as ever!

On Wednesday 2/28/24, he started behaving strangely - we've been wary of stomach flipping for years as it can happen to big breeds and was the cause of his mother's untimely passing when she was only 9 years old. Fortunately, I was home and able to get him to the emergency vet for immediate surgery - according to the vet, if we had waited even a few more hours, Starbuck would have likely been too far gone to save.

Thankfully, the surgery was successful! The doctor noted that "he's a strong boy" and was apparently up and eager to play very quickly post-surgery. Our sweet bean is now home and settling in to make a full recovery.

Fortunately, we had just enough credit line to cover the up front cost ($4,000 deposit when he went under and a final $2,311.70 at discharge), but it has put us in a precarious financial situation. I'd do it again in a heartbeat (he is truly the sweetest, most joyful pup - and so energetic and full of life still!), but we now need to reach out for some community support as we move towards recovery from this unexpected jolt.
