Former Athlete Battles Disease, Financial Disaster
Donation protected
This is our friend Mike Cappiello from Westfield, NJ. He’s shown here getting treatment for a rare kidney disease – FSGS for short. These treatments take many hours to complete, and with the addition of dialysis treatments, this is how Mike has to spend almost every day of his week.
Mike has been a real warrior in his battle so far. He even decided to pursue his masters degree AFTER the diagnosis!
There’s a 50/50 chance that this treatment (plasmapheresis) will save the new kidney his mom recently donated to him (she’s pictured above with Mike and his little brother Benny). But there’s a 50/50 chance it won’t, and that Mike will be sentenced to a shortened life of constant dialysis and declining function of other critical organs.
But however the dice roll, Mike needs our help. The medical deductibles alone are a huge and growing burden, and because of the treatments, he can’t work his job to support himself. Although Mike is angling to get back to work part-time ASAP.
Your support will help Mike focus his spirit and energy on beating this disease and 100% of the proceeds will go to pay his medical bills and expenses.
You can see in the photo above that Mike was an athlete. In fact, he was an accomplished collegiate (Plymouth State, NH) and high school (Westfield, NJ) baseball player.
But I also want you to know that not long after being diagnosed with this rare and chronic disease, he volunteered his time to coach kids in both New Hampshire and his home town of Westfield, and decided to pursue his masters degree — and earned it!
Yes, Mike really is a warrior and deserves our help.
Thank you all for your support – both prayers and contributions!!
ANY AMOUNT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
And please SHARE this with anyone you can!
