An “Opportunity”

Hey everyone! My name is Stanley Martin. I’m the writer and creator of the comedic company “Mixed Messages”, and my first one act play, “Opportunity”, was just accepted into the 32nd annual Strawberry Theatre Festival in New York City! The show is based on 6 former broadway dancers from the broadway flop “McKinley: The other American Musical” coming back together for a cast reunion. It’s a dark comedy that delves into the lives of ensemble members of today’s Broadway and what internal/external struggles they go to to create and keep the opportunities that they receive......a real laugh riot.

I came up with the idea three years ago after a Bob Krakower acting class and started writing it last fall. So far I have done a handful of cold readings and a well received Staged Reading in April at Royal
Family in New York City. With your help I would be able to put up a full fledged production in New York City. All The funds will go to the festival, cast and crew. So please donate what you can, any little bit will help. Also comment, and share. I will be giving updates every week on the progress of the show. And thank you for supporting an aspiring LGBT, P.O.C, comedic your heart out Lena Waithe.

A little history about me. I’ve been a professional performer since the age of ten with my first paid role onstage at ,The Bristol Riverside Theatre in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in their Romeo and Juliet as the “Prince’s Paige”. Many years later I’m now performing in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway. I have always had the inclination to be a writer ever since I was a child creating short stories, poetry, or just writing jokes. I have studied at UCB training center, the summer of last year, and so far I’ve written and produced several sketches onstage at UCB Theatre, in Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen, and several filmed ones you can find on my “Mixed Messages” pages on, YouTube, Facebook, or on my Instagram page ,@staart421 and @officialmixedmessages. I also wrote and directed two of my own cabarets in 2017 at the Former “Metropolitan Room” in New York City.
