My name is Peggy Collins. I am the author and illustrator behind Harley the Hero (Pajama Press), a book about a service dog.

Harley was inspired by Stanley, a service dog for my human friend, Sherri Richards. I met them both at Selby Public School years ago. Through our work on this book, I learned how amazing service dogs are and how they make what seems impossible possible.

Stanley has been a lifeline for Sherri and her family - and now he needs our help.

Stanley has a ruptured cranial cruciate ligament. He's in a lot of pain and requires a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) surgery. It's a complex surgery, but it has been the recommended surgery for him due to his size. Surgery is just the beginning of getting him back to his best self. After his surgery, he will require some specialized equipment, physio, medications and aqua rehab. This is very expensive and his family needs your help.
