Stanley DeKemper dedicated 50 years of his life working with people suffering from addiction and fighting for treatment and services for them. One of his last accomplishments before his untimely passing was bringing Peer Support training and programs to Indiana. Not only did he convince the State to fund training programs, but he also continued to seek additional funding from the federal government and foundations. To say that this work was near and dear to his heart is an understatement, it was a part of who he was as a man.
Our family in partnership with Mental Health America of Indiana raised over $20,000 to support the Stanley W. DeKemper Training Institute. The funds were dedicated to providing scholarships for those seeking to become peer support counselors. During his career, Stanley trained over 100,000 people.
