Staneslow family house fire fund

Hey there.

as you may already know, we had a house fire 12/4. What you probably DON’T know is that Brett also lost his job recently and hasn’t found a replacement yet.

the house fire will largely work itself out through insurance we hope, but this is for the deductible, things that won’t be covered, and to help ease the burden going into Christmas.

another note: Nora’s birthday was last month and we still had almost all her new toys and clothes in totes in our office where the fire was, so all of her Christmas presents and nearly all of her birthday presents got roasted and were a total loss.

the cause of the fire was also a bit frustrating and upsetting. We collect and buy battery banks for charging phones and use them to get a foot in the door and build trust when we encounter someone experiencing homelessness. Those very battery banks are what the fire investigator determined to be the cause of the fire. Going forward, we would still like to offer this service, but we need to invest in fireproof lithium ion protective bags so nothing like this can happen in the future.

so. To be clear. You don’t have to donate or even share this. The support we’ve already received has been phenomenal. But if you do, we’d be eternally grateful and would do our best to make things right and even out the love when all the dust settles with insurance.

tomorrow the Servpro team should be there and we’ll know even more. The initial adjuster’s guess (and he said it’s very very rough before they can get started) will be over 50k in damages between fire, smoke, and water.

I’ll try to update this every step of the way and we will definitely share whatever we can that helps us through this process with your help.
