He is fighting to prevent the publicly funded agency from inflicting the emotional pain and economic loss he experienced after a hospital employee accessed and shared his private healthcare information, including his HIV+ status, while fighting for this life in the Intensive Care Unit of Charlottetown’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Five years after being the first person in PEI hospitalized with COVID-19, George never could have imagined that he would still be battling for his health and dignity.

Health PEI, which oversees health services in the province, refuses to address any of his concerns, admit any responsibility or engage in any meaningful discussion to change privacy policies and practices -- even after George tried to work with them for more than a year before filing his claim.

At the same time, Health PEI faces significant crises including the recent resignation of its CEO, Heather Fraser, very public departures of high-profile doctors, and increasingly overcrowded hospitals provincewide.

Health PEI failed George in 2021 and continues to fail him.
