GLIOBLASTOMA... not a word you ever want to hear.
“Uncle Don! Uncle Don!” I can hear our 3-year-old little girl, Kacey, calling out to her dad’s coworker and great friend, Don. I can close my eyes and see her running into his arms for a giant hug!
He would always ask her: “Are you here to visit your dada, Kacey? Let’s go find him! Hi mama!”... and off they’d go hand-in-hand to go find Kacey’s dad in the #3486 Home Depot store, where Don worked with Kacey's dad, Pete.
This is my favorite memory of Don L’Heureux. Please feel free to share your favorite memories and moments of Don below and please help support him, as he fights the biggest battle of his life. Every little bit counts!
Don had just recently stopped working at The Merrimack Home Depot to start a period of semi-retirement. After working 2 full-time jobs for so long, Don was ready to relax a bit and to spend more time with all of the people that he loves most in this world! He is especially fond of his new granddaughter and would show off any new pictures just as fast as he received them!
Anyone that knows Don, knows that he has a big friendly personality that brightens up any room he is in! His smile & his laugh are contagious and will quickly get you laughing alongside him! He always makes everyone feel so special and is the first one to make sure your birthday is celebrated! He will do any task you ask of him and never once complain about it! He will also show up to help you & your family move into your new place (and will even happily carry all the heavy boxes & furniture!) Don is well-loved by so many people, but he has a special place in the hearts of those at the #3486 Merrimack Home Depot!
After Don’s Home Depot retirement party, he was robbed of life’s delicate gift of time.
Just weeks after he stopped working at The Merrimack Home Depot, he had an unexpected episode of confusion and urgently ended up in the hospital. He learned that he had a brain tumor, that required immediate surgery.
He endured a tough recovery where he had to regain his ability to speak and walk again!
After a few weeks, the prognosis finally came back as a Glioblastoma: an aggressive form of brain cancer, and his future became very unknown. Eventually, the doctors told him: 5 months to live without chemotherapy and 1 year with it (at best).
As I update this, just months after his surgery, Don is in the middle of the toughest battle of his life, undergoing treatment, to extend life for an unknown, but precious amount of time.
Let’s Stand Together and Support #3486’s “Cheermeister-Don” during this difficult time!
——District Donation Day For Don——
- March 21st & March 22nd
The medical bills are very real and there will be other expenses that will need to be taken care of.
If you can, please help to lessen the financial burden for Don and his family, to not have to worry about these things…..so that they can truly focus their energy on just enjoying their precious time together!
Every little bit helps. Please donate, share the link and help give this family some financial relief in their precious moments with their brother, their father, their grandfather... and our good friend and “Cheermeister” at Home Depot #3486.
This is not something that any family should have to focus on, in these critical moments with their loved one.
With Much Gratitude, Love & Appreciation,
(for any donations and shares).
