Standing With Belen (Belle)
This Thanksgiving, while most of us are getting ready to gather with family and friends, Belen will be getting ready for surgery to fight breast cancer.
A few years ago, she fought her way through stage 4 colorectal cancer and won. We all celebrated that miracle with her. She was finally getting back on her feet, working hard, being an incredible mom, and rebuilding her life. Then, out of nowhere, came another blow: a breast cancer diagnosis.
Belen is a full-time dynamic mom to her young daughter. One of the biggest worries will be the medical bills piling up, while she heals, going through chemo and then radiation all while still dealing with mom duties. Belen will be unable to work this time around, which means if she doesn’t work, she doesn’t get paid. And right now, she’s facing a surgery where no one, not even the doctors, knows exactly what they’ll find until she’s on the table. The recovery could be a week, a month… or longer. She just doesn’t know.
It’s hard enough to face cancer once. Facing it again, while worrying about how to cover finances and take care of her child, feels impossible. But Belle has always shown up for everyone else, with love, with strength, with that smile that somehow makes everything feel lighter.
Now, she needs us to show up for her.
If you can, please help take some of the weight off her shoulders so she can focus on buying new bras (LOL), healing, and getting back to the people who love her.
