Standing with Boys Campaign

Hi! We are Patty & Roger Liston. We are fundraising for Standing with Boys, a non-profit supporting boys in Africa. Our mission is to provide a path to a better life for young men in Africa, so that they will break their cycle of poverty & its consequences.

We started Standing with Boys because the reality is that due to their own abuse & abandonment, many of Africa’s boys are vulnerable to the destructive paths that lead to poverty, crime and violence. This reality adversely affects the lives of Africa’s other vulnerable demographic: her women and children.

A new reality and a different path is needed if we are to truly impact the lives of all Africa’s children—including her boys. We are Standing with Boys. Stand with us on the Path to a New Reality.

 ---

Our goal right now: raise $18,000 by March 27 to support boys to learn employable skills in automotive maintenance & repair.  Their teacher will be Roger Liston, a professional, certified electrician with 50+ years of experience.

 We will need:

Tool kits for 100+ boys
One year up-front rental of classroom and garage space
Classroom and garage space
Desks, chairs, books, pencils, student aprons
On-site guard for the evenings
Food—most of our students have only one meal a day
Purchasing of broken motorcycles and cars to repair and sell

---

100% of funds raised will go to teaching and training young men the automotive skills needed to become employable and self-reliant. They are ready to learn skills that could someday support a family.  We are ready to teach them! We will be moving to Ghana in March 2019 to open the first Prosperity Academy.

There are hundreds of young men with the ambition and intellect to become successful.  However, affordable skills training schools are rare, and if available, are often run by those who lack integrity. The Academy will alleviate this problem and teach basic motorcycle and car repair to young men who will also complete a Self-Reliance program.  After only a few weeks of hands-on job skills training at the Academy’s garage, young men will be able to work independently, or as a team, to establish their own business.

A new skill could shape a young boy's entire future. It is no small thing to be the one to stand at the crossroads; the one to point the way to a new beginning.  Stand with us, won't you?
