“So here I am again. Some of you may be new to my story and it is also continuing to change. I have shown great courage by posting me bald, with some hair, and some wigs. When my journey with cancer started over four years ago, I would not have dared showed myself in public as I truly am. And this is what a 60 year old stage 4 Triple Negative Breast cancer with metasis to my lymph nodes, lungs, heart, and brain woman looks like. I wanted to hide that I was sick. I tattooed my brows, wore false eyelashes, and invested in wigs. But today, I’m keeping it real. Lots has happened since my diagnosis; my faith has grown astronomically, my three compassionate, beautiful, independent daughters are at my core, my rock. Some family and special friends have supported me and continue to while others disappeared which seems to be a common experience. I have had multiple surgeries, radiation, and 7 different rounds of chemotherapy. I’ve experienced excruciating pain, de habilitating fatigue, fluid in my lungs, lung scarring, living on and with an oxygen machine, fluid in my heart, dry skin, dry eyes, nausea, explosive diarrhea, neuropathy, falling episodes, dizziness and more. All of my trauma has come out of my heart as I’ve sought therapy to deal with cancer and ptsd. I’ve faced emotional trauma from a horrific divorce and childhood trauma that I had pushed down and not deal with. I have been hospitalized several times and ended up in the ER on several occasions near death. And yet here I am still fighting! You see it is possible to have strength and preservere and grieve. To be angry for what you have physically lost of yourself and mourn and have a strong faith. To be optimistic and to be so sad. I am a fighter. I have fought for everything my entire life: my education as a teacher, my masters in curriculum and my leadership degree as a principal. And I fought a toxic marriage and childhood to break cycles and to be a better human being, mother, and woman. Fighting I know but damn it can be exhausting. I took a leap of faith after a close family friend lead me to the doctors at City of Hope sold my home and moved to Oxnard my dream place to live near the ocean and 70 degrees year round. My middle daughter moved with me. She was a HS teacher and acts so she wanted to be in LA. She is still exploring acting and continuing an education in the health field. My other 2 daughters are also in the medical field: the oldest, Emmie is a pharmacist and the youngest, Becca is working on her PHD. I consider myself beyond blessed as these young women are driven to help others and to be self sufficient young baddies!

I’m struggling now financially as I am currently on disability and only receive about 60% of my prior principal salary. I’m a million dollar patient and recently my insurance is not willing to cover some of my medical bills. This is a big reach but if you have the means I would be very grateful for any financial help that you may offer. And prayers! God hears you! His love for me is phenomenal and brings me so much joy!
