My name is Nina Forward, and I am reaching out with a mother’s heart in its most vulnerable moment. My daughter, Valerie, is in the fight of her life. She was recently diagnosed with Stage 3B Triple-Negative Breast Cancer, an aggressive form that has already required intense chemotherapy, countless medical appointments, and will soon require surgery and radiation.

As a mother, there is no pain deeper than watching your child suffer and not being able to take it away. I would trade places with her in a heartbeat. She is my strength, my joy, and the glue that holds our family together—yet she is the one now fighting to stay strong through exhaustion, sickness, and fear no one her age should ever have to face.

Valerie is a loving mother, sister, daughter, nurse, and caregiver who has spent her life helping others. She has shown up for our family in every way imaginable. Now, she needs our community to show up for her.

Why We’re Asking for Help

Cancer is not only emotionally devastating—it’s financially crushing. Valerie has been unable to work while undergoing treatment and is living on limited disability income. The medical bills, travel for treatments, medications, and basic living expenses are quickly becoming overwhelming. As her mother, I do everything I can, but my health and resources are limited. I cannot carry this alone—though I would if I could.
