This is Jesse, and I am writing on behalf of someone who means a great deal to many of us — my sister-in-law, Valerie Cruz.

Valerie was recently diagnosed with cancer and will be beginning treatment in the months ahead. Anyone who knows Valerie knows the kind of person she is — steady, thoughtful, and always willing to help others. She has a quiet strength about her and has touched many lives through her kindness, dedication, and the way she consistently shows up for the people around her.

As her brother-in-law and someone who has had the privilege of working alongside her, I have seen firsthand how much she cares about the people in her life and the work she does every day. Valerie is deeply valued by her family, friends, and colleagues, and we are grateful for the opportunity to support her during this time.

The purpose of this fundraiser is simple: to help ease some of the financial pressure that can come with cancer treatment. Contributions will help Valerie and her family with medical expenses and everyday bills, as well as any time away from work that may be needed for doctor visits, treatments, or simply supporting one another through the months ahead.

To help amplify the support around Valerie, the organizations she has been part of — Cruz Street, Brewer International, and Vero Beach Pediatrics — will match every dollar donated up to $3,000, doubling the impact of each gift.
