Standing with Troy and His Family in Their Fight

Our family never imagined we would be facing something like this, but today we are asking for help as my husband, Troy, bravely fights Stage 4 esophageal cancer.

Troy was officially diagnosed on his birthday, December 3, 2024 — a day that forever changed our lives. Since then, he has faced this battle with incredible strength, courage, and humor, even through circumstances no family is ever prepared for.

Troy is a hardworking man who deeply loves his family. He is a devoted husband and father to our three children — Ava (9), Jimmy (5), and T.J. (4). Before cancer, he loved fishing, hunting, traveling, being with his friends, and taking family trips, making memories wherever life took us.

His cancer has progressed to Stage 4 and has spread to his lungs and spinal cord. Despite multiple rounds of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and three rounds of radiation, the disease has significantly impacted his daily life. Cancer has invaded the nerves around his shoulder blade and neck, affecting the C5–C8 vertebrae and leaving his right arm completely immobile. He now requires assistance with everyday tasks like dressing and showering and faces the risk of permanent paralysis and possible amputation of his right arm — his dominant arm.

Beyond the physical challenges, the emotional weight of this diagnosis has been immense. Troy is young, and our children are still so little. What keeps him going each day is simply being together — spending time as a family, finding joy in small moments, and holding tightly to the time we have.

Because of his condition, Troy is no longer able to work. He owns a business that we are now struggling to maintain while navigating treatments, medical appointments, and an uncertain future. As his wife and caregiver, I have been doing everything possible to keep our family afloat, but the financial strain continues to grow.

We are asking for help with medical expenses, medications, travel for treatments, and basic household bills as we adjust to the loss of income. Our greatest hope is to focus on preserving Troy’s quality of life and creating meaningful time together as a family without the constant fear of financial hardship. He has been battling this cancer for a 1 1/2 years now. Financial hardships have set in and we are doing what we can, but it’s beginning to not be enough. We are reaching out for help.

If you feel led to give, no amount is too small. Your support, prayers, and shares mean more than we can express. Even simply sharing this page helps us more than you know.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for standing beside Troy and our family during the hardest chapter of our lives.

With gratitude,
The Lunceford Family
