Dear Brothers and Sisters in Green,
Many of you are aware that Correctional Officer Anthony “Tito” Yslas has been facing ongoing health challenges. What was misdiagnosed as a brain tumor was later determined to be cervical and lumbar spine disease. During the course of his treatment, Officer Yslas was working toward returning to a light-duty assignment and adjusting his medical restrictions.
Recently, however, additional medical imaging revealed a more serious condition. Doctors discovered cancerous tumors in his left kidney, as well as another tumor developing in his right kidney. Officer Yslas is currently scheduled for surgery on his left kidney, where physicians will determine whether a partial or complete removal is necessary based on the extent of the tumors.
Officer Yslas has submitted his retirement paperwork through CalPERS, though the process may take several months to finalize.
Throughout his career, Officer Yslas has demonstrated exceptional dedication, professionalism, and a strong commitment to supporting his fellow officers. He has consistently gone above and beyond in both his work ethic and his willingness to mentor and assist others.
This message is shared in recognition of his service and to offer support during this difficult time.
Respectfully,
Corey Giordano
