Hi, my name is Tina Migneault my oldest child of our combined family of 6 attending college in Los Angeles CA. Recently it was discovered that she will be displaced from her small studio apartment due to city shutting the doors on the apartment landlord. Due this unfortunate circumstance she will be forced out to find a new place or be homeless in LA. While searching and touring apartments on foot she stopped to rest in local business and my daughter was assaulted and jumped by two men and sustained injuries including a TBI. she is currently recovering from her hospitalization. She was found unconscious in a parking lot and has no memory of the event but the attack was heard during accident call to a family member. Given the nature of her public advocacy and the work she does addressing human trafficking and exploitation, this incident has been deeply alarming for our family, and we are taking safety concerns seriously, as we have reasons to believe this attack may have been targeted.
My daughter is a student who is currently on Christmas break and preparing to return to school. Over the past several years, she has worked tirelessly to rebuild her life through education, community service, and advocacy. She has founded and led student and community initiatives, served on local and state task forces focused on public policy and public safety, and has spoken publicly to lawmakers and community leaders to help protect others from exploitation. She was recently recognized by the mayor for this work.
Staying on track academically is extremely important to her. She has used education as a foundation for stability and purpose, and she is committed to continuing her studies while remaining engaged in her community in meaningful, constructive ways.
While she focuses on healing from this assault, she is now facing unexpected medical expenses and recovery-related expenses, along with moving costs and costs to move in to higher rent payments. Like many students, she does not have a financial safety net to absorb sudden disruptions, especially during a short academic break when support systems are limited.
Funds raised through this campaign will help cover:
• Medical costs including hospitalization and recovery-related expenses
• Moving expenses and costs such as deposite and first months rent.
• School-related expenses so she can return to classes without added financial strain
Our family’s priority right now is making sure she can recover safely, regain stability, and continue her education without this incident setting her back as she is going to graduate in spring with 3 associates degrees and transfer to a UC.
Any support — whether through a donation or by sharing this page — is deeply appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for standing with our family during this difficult moment.
