If you've had the privilege of knowing Tim and Shelby Schmalbeck, you know they're the kind of people who are always the first to serve, encourage, and help others. They have faithfully poured into their community, their friends, and especially their seven incredible children.

Today, it's our turn to come alongside them.

Over the past several weeks, Tim has endured an unexpected series of life-threatening medical complications. What began as kidney failure quickly led to weeks in the ICU, surgeries to relieve fluid around his heart and lungs, dialysis, and a stroke.

While Tim is making encouraging progress each day, he still has a long road ahead. He will continue to need dialysis, extensive rehabilitation, speech and cognitive therapy, and ongoing medical care as he works to regain his strength and independence. As he becomes medically stable, the family is preparing for the possibility that he will transition to a long-term acute care hospital before beginning the next phase of his recovery.

The financial burden has been especially difficult because Tim unexpectedly lost his job just a few months before this medical crisis began. As Shelby spends as much time as possible by Tim's side, she is also caring for their seven children and doing everything she can to keep life moving forward for their family. Between mounting medical expenses, lost income, travel, rehabilitation, and the countless unexpected costs that accompany a prolonged hospitalization and recovery, the weight they are carrying is immense.

Above all, we ask for your prayers. Please pray for healing, renewed strength, peace, wisdom for Tim's medical team, and continued miracles throughout his recovery. Please also pray for Shelby and their children as they navigate this incredibly difficult season together.
