It is with a heavy heart that I reach out to ask for your support for a dear friend and his family who are facing every parent's worst nightmare: the tragic loss of their beloved son and brother as a result of a motorcycle accident.
Brian Philip Post, age 36, of Ringwood, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026. He was born and lived in Middletown, NY, before moving to Ringwood, NJ, 25 years ago. Brian worked in maintenance at New Jersey Transit in Paterson. He was the beloved son of James Post of Wurtsboro, New York, and Kathryn Ryan of Ringwood, New Jersey.
Loving brother of Connor Dunn and Shannon Dunn, both of Ringwood, NJ, and Alhana Post of Mt. Hope, NY.
My name is Matt O'Connell, and while I did not know Brian personally, I did have the privilege of working with Jim Post while he was a Senior Investigator with the New York State Police. Jim served over 31 years with the New York State Police and now serves as the Town of Goshen Police Chief and Town of Mamakating Councilman. Jim also served 6 years of active duty with the United States Navy. He is, and has always been, a man of the people. He is someone who genuinely cares about others, treats everyone with respect, and remains humble and approachable regardless of his position or accomplishments.
There are simply no words to describe the pain of losing a child, especially in such a sudden and heartbreaking way. In an instant, their lives have been changed forever, leaving behind an emptiness that can never truly be filled. As they struggle to come to terms with this unimaginable loss, they are faced with a difficult road ahead.
I am organizing this fundraiser to help ease some of the financial burdens this family may be facing during this devastating time. While no amount of money can take away their pain or bring their son back, we hope that our generosity and support can provide some comfort and remind them that they do not have to face this tragedy alone.
