Standing with the DeHesa Family: Fighting Glioblastoma Together

The DeHesa family has always been a bright light in our community — known for their generosity, kindness, and unwavering support of others. Whether hosting neighborhood gatherings, volunteering at local events, coaching on their kids in team sports, they’ve always gone above and beyond to make those around them feel welcomed and loved.

Now, it’s our turn to give back.

Two years ago, our dear friend Liz DeHesa was diagnosed with an aggressive and devastating form of brain cancer. Elizabeth “Liz” DeHesa has fought for 25 months against glioblastoma. Glioblastoma, also known as GBM, is an aggressive form of brain cancer. There is currently not a cure for GBM, only treatments to prolong life.

Liz has gone through three brain surgeries, multiple rounds of radiation, countless rounds of chemotherapy, as well as every homeopathic and naturopathic treatment available. After two years of support from the Mayo, the doctors have decided to discontinue treatment for the GBM. Liz is not done fighting.

Despite her diagnosis, Liz continued to work and care for her family with incredible strength and grace. However, over the last nine months, her condition has progressed significantly — the cancer has caused paralysis on her left side, making mobility and daily activities extremely difficult.

To accommodate her changing needs, the family has had to make major renovations to their home, adding further financial strain to the already overwhelming medical expenses. The emotional and financial toll on the entire family has been enormous.

Through it all, the DeHesas have remained courageous and full of love — but now, they need our help.
