Hello my name is Yesenia and I am creating this GoFundMe in hopes I can provide financial support during this difficult time for my brother and his family. On Monday evening, our family’s world was shattered when my brother, Marcelo Burgos, and the mother of his children, Karina Burgos, experienced every parent’s worst nightmare. Their two beautiful children—my 3-month-old niece, Alina Burgos, and my 3-year-old nephew, Alonso Burgos—were critically injured in a horrific hit-and-run in San Bernardino.
They were walking home with their family after visiting a friend when they began crossing the intersection of Arrowhead Avenue and 27th Street. An unknown vehicle struck their stroller and fled the scene. The stroller was dragged nearly 100 yards before it became dislodged. Both Alina and Alonso were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where they remain hospitalized and fighting to recover.
As their aunt, watching my brother and Karina endure this unimaginable pain is heartbreaking. No parent should ever have to stand beside their child’s hospital bed and wonder what tomorrow will bring. Their lives were changed in an instant, and the emotional, physical, and financial toll is overwhelming.
Marcelo is now facing extensive medical expenses, time away from work, and the long road of rehabilitation and recovery for both of his children. Right now, his only focus should be on staying by their side and helping them heal—without the added fear of how he will manage financially.

We also ask for justice for these innocent children. The driver who caused this devastation fled the scene and has yet to be identified. Someone out there knows who did this. We are pleading with the public to come forward with any information that may help law enforcement.
