- My name is Victoria Spalding and my Mimi, Tara Lonberger, is undergoing a life saving kidney transplant surgery on 2/10/26 at Sentara Norfolk Hospital. We are so grateful to the living altruistic (anonymous donor). We have no idea who this generous person is, but are so thankful they’re giving her this second chance at life. Transplant surgery and medications (anti-rejection meds) are very expensive even with two health insurances. Dialysis was expensive as well, but they handled it because my Mimi worked part time as a kindergarten instructional assistant at Hampton City Schools. She recently took her leave of absence at the end of January. She’ll be out of work through the end of the school year (6 months) due to not being able to be around large crows because of her immune system being so compromised from surgery and anti-rejection medications. Due to her leave of absence, this will put a financial strain on both my aunt and uncle. As many of you know, my Mimi and Uncle Steve have raised my brother and I as their own since March of 2022 due to the unfortunate circumstance of our mother’s passing with very minimal financial assistance. My mimi is one of the strongest, selfless, and caring people that I know and I love her more than words can express. This is one way that I feel we can give back to both of them to help relieve the burden and stress of her being out of work for the next 6 months. Anything given towards our family would be extremely appreciated, would go a long way, and make sure the needs of our family are met through this difficult time. If you feel led to, please share this because all the help we can get will truly make all the difference. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, your prayers and your support. God bless you all.
