Hi, my name is Valarie Davis, and I am raising funds to support my daughter, Tanisha, and her family during an unimaginably difficult time.

In October, Tanisha began experiencing dizziness, which prompted her to call 911. At the hospital, a CT scan and MRI revealed a lesion on her brain. Because doctors were unsure what it was, they initially treated it as a brain abscess. She spent a week hospitalized and was discharged on strong antibiotics three times a day for 30 days.

A follow-up MRI was done 3 weeks after being discharged from the hospital, and the results showed the lesion had not only remained, but had grown. At this point, the neurologist suggested my daughter have a biopsy. Tanisha had another MRI on 12/9/2025. The MRI showed continued growth. My daughter underwent the biopsy on 12/10/2025.

Shortly after, I was told the news no parent is ever prepared to hear: my daughter has a malignant 3 cm brain tumor. Doctors believe it is a high-grade glioma.

Tanisha is a mother of two — a 21-year-old daughter and a 17-year-old son — and she also has her 1-year-old grandson living with her. Since October, she has been unable to work. I have been covering my daughter's bills, and her daughter is working and doing everything she can to help with living expenses; however, the financial strain has become overwhelming.

This fundraiser is to help cover Tanisha’s basic living expenses, including rent, utilities, transportation, and other necessities, while we wait for her disability benefits to be approved. Our goal is to keep her household stable so she can focus on her health and time with her family.

I am also working to see if Tanisha is willing to move back to North Carolina so I can care for her as needed and help coordinate her oncology care with a medical team here at Baptist Hospital.
