Standing with Tabatha Through Her Medical Journey

My name is Karyn, and I’ve had the privilege of being Tabatha’s friend for over 20 years. Our children grew up together and are the best of friends, making our families deeply connected in so many ways. With Tabatha now living in Maine, it has been incredibly difficult being so far away while watching someone I love go through such an overwhelming medical journey.

One of my biggest concerns is how Tabatha, as a single mom, will continue caring for her family while carrying the physical, emotional, and financial burden of everything she is facing.

In 2025, Tabatha was diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma, beginning a difficult and ongoing fight against cancer. On July 31, 2025, she underwent major VATS surgery to remove the upper lobe of her left lung. Following surgery, she endured four rounds of adjuvant chemotherapy from September through November 2025 with incredible strength and determination.
In January 2026, Tabatha began immunotherapy treatment with Nivolumab, hoping for the next step toward healing. Tragically, after only two treatments, she suffered a severe inflammatory reaction that led to hospitalization in March. Her medical team now believes the reaction was connected to surgical bio-glue used during her lobectomy and that the immunotherapy intensified the response.
Since then, Tabatha has been battling severe airway inflammation, swelling in her throat and lungs, chronic coughing, breathing complications, and has required high-dose prednisone treatment for months.

At the same time, doctors were closely monitoring another lesion in her lower left lung that continued to grow. Earlier this month, a biopsy confirmed it is lepidic adenocarcinoma. Doctors also biopsied the inflammatory area caused by the glue reaction.

After review by the tumor board, her care team determined that because she only has part of one lung remaining, another surgery would be too risky. They are now moving forward with radiation consultation and likely SBRT treatment. Additional Tempus/Tempest testing is also underway to determine whether this cancer is related to the original diagnosis or represents a new primary tumor.

Tabatha is currently fighting both cancer and the serious lung complications caused by treatment. It has been an incredibly long and exhausting road physically, emotionally, and financially.

We are asking for support to help ease the burden of ongoing medical expenses, treatments, travel costs, medications, and daily living expenses during this difficult time. Every donation, share, and prayer means more than words can express.
Thank you for standing with Tabatha as she continues this fight.
