Every day, my friend Steve shows remarkable strength in his journey with pancreatic cancer—and now, it’s our turn to stand with him.

Shortly after celebrating his 40th birthday, Steve faced the unimaginable: a diagnosis of stage 3 pancreatic cancer. He courageously underwent a complex Whipple Procedure, followed by months of chemotherapy and radiation. For a time, we believed the hardest part was behind him.

But last year, new scans revealed that the cancer had spread to his lungs. Today, Steve is navigating stage 4 pancreatic cancer that has also reached his lymphatic system. He continues to be cared for by the incredible team at Princess Margaret Hospital and is awaiting a clinical trial that offers new possibilities—and renewed hope.

Through every twist and setback, Steve’s courage, faith, and love for his family have never wavered. Against all odds, he’s surpassed every expectation, fueled by his deep faith, his devotion to his wife Jessica, and their two beautiful daughters, Maizie (9) and Zoë (6).

Over the years, Steve has drawn strength from a combination of integrative and off-label treatments that have helped stabilize his health and given him precious time with his family. While these therapies - such as ivermectin, fenbendazole, mebendazole, modified citrus pectin, and antioxidant treatments, mistletoe injections and other modalities - are not covered by OHIP or Health Canada, they have been instrumental in his ongoing fight.

Now, as Steve prepares for a new chapter in his treatment, he faces increased medical and related costs to continue these therapies and participate in potential clinical trials. This is where our community can make a difference.
