Stephen (Steffen) Harris was a father, a brother, a son, a cousin, an uncle, a friend, and, above all, a genuinely good human being.

Stephen was the victim of a devastating assault that ultimately took his life. He was airlifted to a hospital nearly two hours away from his family, where he spent his final days surrounded by the love of those who desperately wished for more time with him. His loss has left our family navigating a grief that words cannot adequately express.

Anyone who knew Stephen knew the kind of person he was. He was someone who would help another person simply because they needed it, without expecting anything in return. He was deeply loved by his family and friends, and his life touched hundreds of others in ways both large and small. There are so many people who carry a story about him, a memory with him, or a moment when his kindness made their life a little better. His life was far more than the tragedy that ended it, and we hope he will always be remembered for the love, laughter, and kindness he brought into this world.

Even in death, Stephen continued to give to others. Through organ donation, he was able to save three lives, offering three families the extraordinary gift of more time with someone they love. While we take comfort in knowing that his final act brought hope to others, we also know that the lives he saved extended far beyond those three. Through his compassion, generosity, and unwavering willingness to help anyone in need, Stephen made a difference in more lives than he could have ever known. His kindness was its own kind of lifesaving, and its impact will endure long after his passing.

Right now, we are asking for some of that kindness to find its way back to him and to the family he left behind.

All funds raised will go toward Stephen’s funeral expenses, any remaining medical bills, and necessary legal fees associated with pursuing justice for his death. While nothing can undo what happened or return him to the people who loved him, we are determined to honor his life, give him the farewell he deserves, and do everything within our means to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
