Facing Cancer for the Third Time: Help Stacey Recover After a Double Mastectomy
---
My Story
I never imagined I would hear the words “you have cancer” for a third time — but here I am.
Fifteen years ago, in October 2010, I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time. With faith in Jehovah, the love of my family and friends, and a lot of determination, I fought through chemotherapy and radiation and survived. From that point on, I lived under constant monitoring — MRIs and mammograms every six months — knowing vigilance was my new normal.
Ten years later, during the height of COVID, I was diagnosed with breast cancer again. The timing was terrifying. I had just been sent home from work, unsure when I would return or what my treatment would involve. I was out of work for three months — just long enough to undergo surgery and treatment — and once again, I pushed forward.
Then, last month, I received another call.
“We don’t like what we see.”
After more testing, biopsies, and waiting, I heard the words I hoped I would never hear again: “Stacey, you have cancer.”
This is my third breast cancer diagnosis.

The Decision No One Wants to Make
After years of fear, uncertainty, and repeated trauma, I had to face a heartbreaking reality: continuing down this path puts me at risk for a fourth — potentially more aggressive and less treatable — cancer.
For my health, my future, and most importantly, for my baby boy, I have made the difficult but necessary decision to undergo a double mastectomy.
This decision is about survival. It’s about being here to raise my son. It’s about choosing life over fear.

Why I’m Asking for Help
My surgery and recovery will require me to be out of work for 8–10 weeks. In today’s economy, I simply don’t have nearly three months of living expenses saved.
Funds raised will help cover:
Rent and utilities
Groceries and daily necessities
Medical co-pays and recovery costs
Basic household expenses while I heal
Any amount — truly — makes a difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page or keeping us in your prayers means just as much.

With Gratitude and Faith
I am incredibly blessed with a strong, loving family and an amazing support system — the Barker, Davis and my spiritual families — and I know the power of prayer is unmatched. I humbly ask you to please pray for me and for my son as we walk through this journey together.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your prayers. And thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for any support you are able to give.
With love and gratitude,
Stacey B.
