Our beloved brother Spike Mikkelsen has faced an extraordinary series of medical challenges over the past 5 years.

His journey began with a diagnosis of colorectal cancer, requiring extensive treatment and the creation of an ostomy. He endured surgeries, hospitalizations, and the physical and emotional toll that cancer brings — all with remarkable strength and determination.

While still fighting to regain his health, he underwent an emergency hip replacement, adding another major surgery and long rehabilitation process to his recovery.

Most recently, after a complex hernia repair related to his ostomy, he developed a severe abdominal abscess. The infection became life-threatening and required emergency hospitalization, including a critical medical evacuation to receive advanced care.

As if the physical battle wasn’t enough, due to the prolonged medical complications and time away for treatment, he was administratively separated from his job. This unexpected loss of income has added tremendous financial stress to an already overwhelming situation.

Between mounting hospital bills, surgical costs, emergency transport expenses, rehabilitation, and everyday living costs, the burden is more than any one person should have to carry alone.

We are raising funds to help cover:

Medical and hospital expenses

Emergency medivac flight costs

Ongoing rehabilitation and follow-up care

Daily living expenses during recovery

Loss of income due to job separation

Spike has shown incredible courage through every setback. Now he needs the support of his community to focus on healing without the constant weight of financial uncertainty.
