Hi everyone, it’s me, Sophia.

I’m creating this GoFundMe for myself as I’ve been going through a lot of health challenges recently. After months of doctor visits and hospital stays, I had to undergo surgery on February 3rd.

I currently work as an Educational Assistant for Albuquerque Public Schools, and while I truly love what I do—it’s my purpose and passion—the pay is modest and I’ve been living paycheck to paycheck. By the time my surgery was scheduled, I had already used the 13 PTO/sick days we receive at the beginning of the year.

Over the past six months, I’ve had countless appointments and multiple hospital visits. Unfortunately, in New Mexico, we don’t have access to state disability benefits like some other states do. I’ll be out of work for about 6 to 8 weeks, which means I won’t have an income during this time.

As much as I dislike asking for help, I’m reaching out today because I truly need it. Any contribution—big or small—will help me stay afloat and cover essential expenses while I recover.
