Our Story:
Dear Family, Friends, and Kind Strangers,
We are reaching out to you humbly and with hope on behalf of Sheri Eldridge, a truly extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and dear friend to so many she has touched in 61 years. Sheri will soon receive a double organ transplant due to complications from multiple cancer treatments to replace her beautiful, but tired heart, and one of her kidneys. Sheri has worked diligently and courageously for many years managing her health to delay this surgery. Those of you who know and love her rarely see her without a smile, or without her glamour and sparkle, despite what she may be feeling inside. No one would ever truly know her incredibly difficult journey because she is always ready to support others in whatever they need.
Now it is our turn to support Sheri!
While insurance will cover the complex procedure, the costs associated with the extensive recovery are overwhelming. A double organ transplant involves expenses far beyond the surgery itself. Our fundraising goal of $30,000 will help cover the following critical needs:
- Pre and post-transplant travel and lodging: Sheri will need to relocate hours away from her home for testing, the transplant, and a recovery period of 3 months or more.
- Daily living expenses during recovery: Funds will help cover essentials like, food, gas, parking, and a safe place to stay near UC San Francisco, and as most can acknowledge, the bay area is extremely expensive.
- Lost wages: Sheri is retired, and her husband John, her protector and her primary caregiver will have the most critical job of caring for her 24 hours a day and will be unable to work during Sheri’s recovery.
- Out-of-pocket medical costs: This includes deductibles, co-pays, and other bills not fully covered by insurance.
