My name is Cindy Harris,
I am raising funds for my sister Sheila (shyla) Whiteway she has been in the hospital now for over 6 months. 9/17/25
My sister is an amazing hard working woman/daughter/sister/mother/grandmother, and Friend to all that know her...
Shyla has 3 kids, 6 grandkids, a Fiance, and her dog Sherlock. There are 6 of us 3 boys and 3 girls she is my big sister and the 3rd oldest of us all. it's just shyla, my brother and myself left here in Tacoma and our patents are no longer with us.
R.I.P Mon and Dad.
Shyla has worked at Allenmore Hospital for over 26 years now, she gives and gives so much of herself and does so much for everyone else., she definitely got that from our mother.
On 9/17/25 Shyla was rushed to Tacoma General Hospital she was unresponsive, her blood preasure was really high, she had a very high fever they had to cover her with ice bags. in the hours following she was transferred to Harborview Hospital in Seattle where she was immediately rushed in to have Brain surgery, Shyla was in a very serious state she had a really bad infection a severe case of meningitis it was spread throughout her whole body in her brain, bones, blood, she was on a vent/breathing machine, they had to put a tracheotomy in her throat they did not know if she would make it, they just kept telling us we don't know if she will make it through this she is very very ill. During the 1st two months shyla went through many different surgeries, a few to mention were they placed a feeding tube in her nose which she has pulled out over 12 times i stopped counting after the 12th time, then they removed the feeding tube from her nose and placed it into her stomach after the 3 times of trying and not being able to (3rd times a charm), she has had a couple brain surgeries, a couple sinus surgeries, a shunt, then she got blood clots and a filter had to be placed, she had several (5)strokes, a lung wash out, and more. Around the 2nd month she came out of the coma state and her complete right side was completely paralyzed. I purchased so many different medical therapy devices for her to regain her mobility and in the next couple months to follow she was able to start moving her right side again. Shyla was transferred to another smaller hospital down the street from harborview where things went bad pretty quickly she had such a horrible set back and they had to rush her back to Harborview where once again she started getting amazing care. Shyla turned blue and coded on 3 different occasions but thanks to Harborview staff and they're amazing care she is doing so much better now. Although shyla will have a long road to recovery and a new normal of a lifestyle for the most part she remains to be in good spirits.
Shyla amazes me every day she is such a strong woman and so determined not to give up.
Thank You Sister Sister for being an amazing big Sister, I will always be here right by your side.
