Hi, my name is Myeshia. My sister Taquilla and I are raising funds for our mother, who was recently diagnosed with Stage 2 triple-negative invasive breast cancer.
She starts chemotherapy this Thursday and will undergo surgery and ongoing treatment. The diagnosis came suddenly, and while her medical team is working to connect her with financial assistance programs and Medicaid, the initial chemo, port surgery, scans, medications, and medical costs had to begin right away and those expenses are currently out of pocket. The bills are already building up quickly, which is why we’re asking for help right now.
Our mom actually didn’t want us to create this fundraiser. She’s strong, private, and doesn’t like to ask for help. But this is a heavy journey, and like anyone facing cancer, she has emotional moments, fears, and doubts. She needs love, support, and community around her right now. Letting people love her in this season is part of her healing too.
My siblings and I are working extra shifts to help, but the upfront medical costs are overwhelming. We’re asking for support to help cover immediate medical expenses until financial programs and assistance are approved.
We don’t expect everyone to donate, support comes in many forms. Prayer means everything, and sharing this is support too. We love you all and are grateful beyond words. This has been emotional for our family, but I’m a believer before anything else. God is already healing my mom in real time.
And please don’t say “I’m sorry to hear this.” We’re not. This was caught early, and she has a 92% survival rate. God chose her to be a warrior, and she will overcome this.
If you can’t donate, please share….your love and prayers mean everything.
With gratitude,
The Burns Family
