Two weeks ago, our beloved Dad and Pop-pop Scott Barmat was admitted to Abington Hospital for a severe localized, aggressive, pancreatic cancer. He has been through numerous procedures and tests, many of which have unfortunately led to a decline in his health status, but he is still a fighter.! the plan is to move his care to receive the specialty oncologic services from Fox Chase Cancer center and transfer him as an inpatient so we can further help Scott in fighting this deadly disease. This is just the beginning of a long marathon of testing and treatment eligibility with the eventual plan to get him home! Scott has faced barriers of care with grace and fortitude with more downs than ups within a very short time frame. His clinical picture is such that the necessity to transfer him is essential. As a result of insurance coverage issues he will be paying out of pocket for his first several days at Fox Chase. There will be ongoing care that he will need to receive privately when he is able to return home. This is a key support system we want to provide him. we have started this fund to offset the costs for Scott and his family. The initial plan was to start a meal train to support Scott at home while he recovers and prep for oncology advisement and chemo. Unfortunately, his inpatient course will be longer than anticipated and he has encountered many mountains along the way.
