My name is Ann and I’m establishing this GoFundMe for my friend Stephanie Scribner, also known as “Samm.” Samm has been my “ride-or-die” for over 40+ years, and 2025 has been a year of extraordinary resilience for her.
After years of struggle, Samm chose sobriety on July 14, 2024, the day after the second anniversary of her son Spencer Webb’s death. Spencer died tragically on July 13, 2022, after a fall near Triangle Lake in Oregon. In the aftermath of that devastating loss, Samm made the decision to reclaim her life and begin recovery.
That decision became her foundation.
In October 2025, Samm was diagnosed with breast cancer, a life-altering diagnosis that immediately shifted her focus to treatment and survival. At the same time, she was also diagnosed with severe injuries to both shoulders, including torn rotator cuffs that have caused significant pain and loss of function. While cancer treatment must come first, both shoulders will require surgical repair once treatment is complete, extending her recovery well into the future.
By the end of 2025, Samm has reached 535 days sober, a hard-won milestone that has carried her through grief, cancer treatment, and ongoing physical pain. Despite these challenges, Samm remains focused on healing and on the future. She is determined to continue her education and pursue a career as a substance abuse counselor, using her lived experience to help others find recovery and hope.
How Your Support Helps
Donations will help cover:
• Cancer treatment and related medical expenses
• Upcoming shoulder surgeries and extended recovery
• Lost income and day-to-day living costs during treatment
Every donation, no matter the size, helps ease the financial burden so Samm can focus on healing, honoring her son’s memory, and building a future rooted in purpose and service. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page is deeply appreciated.
