Help Support Sam Guffey’s Fight and Recovery
On March 3, 2026, our family’s world changed when my dad, Sam Guffey, underwent a major surgery — an appendectomy of his right kidney — after doctors discovered a large mass. What was already a frightening situation became even more overwhelming when doctors also found metastatic lesions on his lungs, meaning he will need further treatment beyond what we originally expected.
Sam spent a full week in the ICU following surgery. We are incredibly grateful that he is now home, but his recovery is only just beginning. Right now he is unable to move on his own and relies heavily on the care of my mom and our family for even the simplest daily tasks. Over the next couple of weeks, he will continue healing from surgery before receiving his final biopsy results and learning what the next phase of treatment will look like.
If you know my dad, you know he is the kind of person who lights up every room he walks into. He is caring, funny, and endlessly energetic — the kind of father, husband, friend, and Pop Pops (Grandpa) who always puts others first. He’s the one who makes everyone laugh, shows up whenever someone needs help, and brings warmth and positivity wherever he goes.
Because of this sudden medical crisis, our family is now facing significant medical expenses and time away from work while he focuses on healing and preparing for additional treatments. We want my dad to be able to focus on recovery without the constant stress of mounting financial pressure.
We are hoping to raise money to help cover medical bills, recovery costs, treatment cost and lost income during this difficult time.
If you are able to donate, share this page, or simply keep Sam in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean the world to our family. Every bit of support helps us as we navigate the road ahead.
Thank you for standing with our family and helping support Pop Pops as he begins this fight and recovery journey.
Gratefully,
Sam's entire family
