Standing with Rosaelia Through Her Recovery

Rosaelia is a mother of five daughters, a wife, a sister, and grandmother that gives everything her all and loves her family. Anyone that knows her, knows that she’s a light in many people’s lives and is the backbone of her family.
On August 24th, 2019, our lives changed forever. My mother, Rosaelia Sanchez went into cardiac arrest and was announced dead for an entire nine minutes. As she was being transported to the ambulance, they were fortunately able to resuscitate her, but this left her in a medically induced coma for a week. She recovered and was able to come home with a pacemaker, however this was just the beginning of her medical troubles. Since then, she has had multiple hospitalizations every year due to her pacemaker sending electrical shocks to her heart every time she was on the verge of going back into cardiac arrest. She attended various visits with different cardiologists and specialists to assess the root of the problem. She was born with a preexisting heart condition that was left untreated as a child and has followed her into her adult years. The doctors decided that the only thing that would be able to prevent further complications in her life would be a heart transplant.
In December 2024, she was officially put on the heart transplant waiting list and was told it should take no more than 6 months. While awaiting a call from the transplant team, my mother had a severe hospitalization on September 20th, 2025, that was caused by her pacemaker sending SIX electrical shocks to her heart. After being hospitalized for 2 days, the doctors decided that it would be best for her to wait for the new heart at Cleveland Clinic in Weston. On November 6th, 2025, at around 10:30 pm, we got the call that there was a heart on route to the hospital for her and at around midnight November 7th, she was taken into surgery. Though this wasn’t even the beginning, the day of her surgery, she was taken back in for a second emergency procedure, her body was rejecting the new heart. This caused her to be left with her chest open for several days. The doctors continued to do everything in their power to keep her going, however, she was deemed critical condition for the 2 days following her transplant. No one was sure that she would make a comeback or that the heart would be able to adjust to her body properly. On November 10th, 2025, she got taken back into surgery and they were able to close her chest. She was intubated for 3 weeks and on November 26th, 2025 she was finally able to get the breathing tube removed and woke up remarkably remembering who her family was and who she was. She’s making progress everyday, but she is expected to continue various appointments, visits, medications, and tests along with rehabilitation to be able to adequately manage her new heart’s progression and improve her function and mobility. All of which, add up to be a significant amount of money. We ask that if you have the opportunity to make a contribution,of any size, any amount, it would be greatly appreciated. All proceeds will go towards her current and pending medical bills.
