Help Robert Hunt Sr. Recover After Sudden Cardiac Arrest
Story:
On the night of November 24, 2025, our family experienced a terrifying moment that changed our lives. My dad, Robert Hunt Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, and hardworking heavy equipment operator for the City of Huntsville, suddenly collapsed at home after feeling dizzy. His lips turned purple, and he quickly lost consciousness.
My mom, Diann, immediately called 911—but in that moment of panic she remembered their neighbor of eight years, Kathy Hudson, a Huntsville Hospital registered nurse. Diann raced across the yard screaming for help.
Kathy had just finished an exhausting 12-hour shift and was asleep, but when she saw the fear on my mom’s face, she didn’t hesitate. She ran barefoot into our home and found my dad on the floor, not breathing, his face blue. He had gone into cardiac arrest.
Kathy began CPR instantly—four full rounds of compressions and breaths—and used the oxygen tank my dad keeps because of long-standing pulmonary issues. Just when hope felt out of reach, she felt a faint pulse. Dad’s eyes opened.
Kathy saved his life. She is truly our angel.
When HEMSI paramedics and volunteer firefighters arrived, they took over lifesaving care. Doctors later told us that without immediate CPR, Dad would not be with us today.
Now, Dad faces a long recovery. He has been diagnosed with multiple pulmonary complications and has been told he must quit smoking, begin long-term pulmonary rehabilitation, and undergo extensive follow-up care. His recovery will require:
• Ongoing pulmonary rehab
• Specialist visits
• New medications and equipment
• Time away from work
• Transportation costs for multiple weekly appointments
• Home adjustments to support his breathing and mobility
As a family, we are grateful beyond words that he is expected to be home for Christmas. But the financial strain is already overwhelming, and the road ahead will be long.
Why We’re Asking for Help
My dad has always been the kind of person who works hard, helps others, and asks for nothing in return. Now he needs support to focus fully on healing without the stress of mounting medical expenses and lost income.
All donations will go directly toward his medical bills, rehabilitation, and essential home care needs.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting our family during this difficult time. And to Kathy—our angel next door—we will forever be grateful for your bravery and compassion.
If you’re unable to donate, a share of this page means just as much.
Thank you,
The Hunt Family
❤️
