Standing with Remi Through Disability Process

Remi is working on getting disability. They are currently being financially supported by their partner Joy (they/them), however, this is not a long-term sustainable solution as Joy works full-time and also struggles with chronic pain.
This year alone, Remi has applied and been denied twice even after hiring lawyers to handle the appeals process. Every denial sets the clock back to 9-12 months of estimated wait time to hear a decision one way or the other.
The Steele-Calene household is needing to raise funds to cover living expenses for the upcoming year until disability comes through. We have chosen the goal to be $26,000, the average amount it takes to keep a disabled person living independently in community vs being institutionalized.
We appreciate your contributions both financial and emotional as we continue to figure things out in the interim as we patiently wait for disability.
Please consider reaching out to your communities to spread the word to others who can help us reach our goal. Anything is truly appreciated, even just a kind comment or a share to your network helps boost morale and build momentum.
