Randy Honkala suffered an ischemic stroke on March 22, 2026. Randy has been hospitalized since that time. He is having difficulty with swallowing and has had a feeding tube placed. The stroke affected his thalamus and thus he is having difficulty with speech, altered mental status, memory impairment, vertical gaze palsy and difficulty with ambulation. He will likely transfer to an intensive rehab center this week. The prognosis is unsure at this time, but will be a long process.
His wife, Renee, has been pulled between having to work full-time to continue to pay bills and being at Randy’s side to encourage him.
We pray that rehab is successful in helping Randy regain a degree of independence.
Renee is hesitant to reach out and ask for assistance in this time of great need. We are asking for your support to help lessen the immediate financial burdens for Renee so she can be there with Randy as possible during this time.
A prayer, sharing this link or financial donations all mean so much at this time. All donations will go directly to Renee to help cover medical & living expenses.
4/9/26: After 2.5 weeks in the hospital, the plan is for Randy to transfer to Honor Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Scottsdale. He has many hurdles in front of him. Continue to remember him in prayer. Visits are appreciated!
