As most of you have heard by now, Piper has been dealing with what everyone believed was just a typical back injury. After months of pain and several scans, it has been revealed that our sweet girl has stage 4 cancer. The doctors believe it is likely sarcoma, but that will be determined for sure once the biopsy results come back, which were taken from an aggressive tumor pressing on her spine and crushing her nerves. They were able to successfully remove a good portion of the tumor off her spine, freeing the nerves that were being compromised before it caused further damage. Scans also revealed the cancer has spread to her lungs, leaving her with multiple tumors there as well. For the next couple of weeks, the main goal is to focus on healing from her surgery, and then they will start chemotherapy and radiation. This is devastating news to us and so unexpected. Unbelievably, through all of this, Piper has remained good-spirited. She is such a strong and independent girl. As we can all imagine, my sister, her husband, Piper's father, and his wife are at a loss for words. With long hospital stays and the unseen future, I am hoping we can all come together to take some worry off their shoulders so they can just focus on being there with Pip. Truly, the one thing we want most from everyone is to add Piper into your daily prayers.
