Hello friends and family! As most of you know, Pete is one of the most giving, humble people. So this new challenge that we are facing is hard from a lot of angles. It has placed our family in a position to ask for help, which is not something either of us take lightly. Here is what is happening:
On April 14, 2026, we discovered at a doctor's appointment that Pete has degenerative disk disease along with spinal stenosis and narrowing of his spinal column in the lumbar & sacral area. This means his is actively losing his ability to walk. He is still currently mobile, but not without the assistance of a cane or walker. Appointments with neurologist have been set up, MRI's are getting completed and we are at the beginning of this journey to discover what, if any, options there are to help preserve Pete's ability to walk for as long as we can.
Currently, Pete is not able to work. We are also at the beginning of getting him signed up for disability, but this is a long process. I lost my job as well in March, so our housing bills and now medical bills are starting to add up and go through our savings. We are trying to move our family out of Estes Park and into a home without stairs and better safety features for Pete.
Any help of any kind is greatly appreciated! Like I said, we are at the beginning of this journey and the road ahead will be a lot. I am more than happy to share details with anyone who would like to message me privately. Please DO NOT message Pete. His plate is full with what all he is dealing with. Again, thank you for anything you are able to help with. We truly appreciate you all! I will post updates as we find out new information too. Thank you!! XOXO -The Villanos
