Two weeks ago, our family received news that completely changed our world. My baby brother, Patrick, was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer at just 36 years old.

Patrick has dedicated nearly his entire adult life to serving others. Since the age of 18, he has worked in law enforcement communications, supporting multiple departments as a Communications Officer and 911 Operations Manager. For years, he has been the calm voice on the other end of emergency calls—helping guide people through some of the most frightening moments of their lives and supporting the officers and first responders who rely on him every day.

Now Patrick is the one facing the emergency.

His diagnosis came as a complete shock. While his doctors are optimistic and a treatment plan is in place, the road ahead will involve significant medical care, recovery time, and the financial burden that comes with serious illness.

Patrick will be remaining in Florida for treatment, where he has a close circle of friends who are stepping in to help support him through this process. Even with that support, the costs associated with treatment—medical bills, medications, travel to appointments, and the everyday expenses that continue while he focuses on healing—add up quickly.

Patrick is more than just my brother—he has always been someone who shows up when people need him most. When I was going through one of the most difficult moments of my life, he came and brought me to Florida and took care of me while I got back on my feet. That’s who Patrick is. Quietly strong, deeply loyal, and always willing to carry others when they need help.

Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
