Pastor Molis Augustave is a community builder in York PA, a city he arrived to six years ago. Three years ago he met his lovely wife Omara, a local grad of William Penn HS and a nursing student. They have a beautiful son Issac together, age two, and Molis is a step-father to Omara’s daughter Sofia.

In York, Pastor Molis has developed many friends. Known everywhere for his kindness, he has worked with community leaders to support the burgeoning Haitian community of South Central PA. Until recently, he worked as an organizer with We Are CASA where he developed immigrants and working class residents into leaders to take action to make Harrisburg and York even stronger. On the weekend, he pastors at a local church. A speaker of four languages, Molis is an amazing connector of people.

When the Trump administration cancelled Temporary Protected Status for Haiti, Molis was impacted like hundreds of thousands. The government didn’t care about his children. Or his US citizen wife. He was brought to an ICE enforcement office by the West York Police. They stopped him because of a broken headlight. West York recently signed a 287g agreement which deputizes local police offices as ICE agents. That one small borough police department has been responsible for countless detentions of Haitian immigrants.

Molis’ wife Omara is now struggling to keep the family together while supporting Molis. Molis is currently detained in Louisiana, a state from which deportation flights to Haiti are common.
