I'm setting up this Go Fund Me for my son Ryan. He's 25 and battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer for the 2nd time. He will now require a stem cell transplant. He's a police office for the City of Fayetteville, NC. He takes pride in being a police officer and serving his community.
He was first diagnosed with cancer, after a car accident in 2022, sent him to the hospital where it was discovered during some tests associated with the accident. After some tough months of chemo therapy he was cancer free in July 2023. He was surrounded by family as he rung that glorious bell.
Few things in life hit a father as hard as walking back by that very same bell with your son on your way to discuss treatment options for the cancer that has returned. Thinking about how I felt the last time I saw the bell, I cursed that bell as I walked by it as if it were to blame for our return visit.
A treatment plan was ultimately determined by the amazing doctors at Chapel Hill's UNC Cancer Center. Unfortunately the immunotherapy wasn't successful in treating it and he had to go through chemo therapy the same as the previous time. He has completed that and is now preparing for the stem cell transplant. A process that will consume January, February and some of March.
I'm confident we'll ring that dam bell again, and then I never want to see it again.
I'm asking for your donation to contribute to the costs Ryan is incurring due to the cancer's return. His insurance policy restarts on January 1st, which means all his deductibles must be met again. He will miss work during the stem cell transplant. He will also be required to pay to stay near the hospital for a period of time right after he is discharged from the hospital after the transplant.
