UPDATE 4/17/26: For many years, Nelda Gutierrez has been a light in the lives of so many, guiding students toward college, opening doors of opportunity, and uplifting everyone around with her kindness, wisdom, and heart. She has given so much of herself, helping other turn their dreams into reality.

Today, Nelda is facing a difficult chapter and is now under palliative care, where the focus is on keeping her comfortable, surrounded in every possible way. During this time, she needs us more than ever.

12/18/25- Our dear friend Nelda Gutierrez was recently diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer---a diagnosis that has turned her world upside down. As many of you know, Nelda is someone who shows up for others with kindness and strength. Now, she needs our support more than ever.

Nelda has impacted hundreds of lives at McAllen High School by preparing students for college, workforce, and the military. She is now making a difference as an Assistant Principal in La Joya ISD.

We are raising funds to help ease the burden so Nelda can focus on her treatment, healing, and time with loved ones.

She thanks everyone for the love and support during this incredibly difficult time.
