Hi, my name is Natalie Johnson, and I’m a 37-year-old mom who has spent most of my life fighting for my health — and now I need to ask for help.
My family’s battle with cancer started long before I was old enough to understand the word. My sister was diagnosed with cancer in 1988 and later relapsed. Not long after, in 1997, I was diagnosed with the same cancer as a child. While I survived, the treatment left me with lifelong health issues that have followed me into adulthood. My life has been filled with hospital stays, ICU visits, and constant medical challenges.
As I grew older, my health continued to decline. I became permanently disabled and can’t work because I get sick far too often. I’ve tried to push through, but my body simply can’t keep up.
Then life delivered another heartbreaking blow — my son was diagnosed with cancer in 2017, and he relapsed in 2020. Watching him fight the same battle I did was one of the hardest moments of my life.
Today, my health is worse than it has ever been. I’m extremely sick, constantly in and out of medical care, and I have to start dialysis soon. Dialysis will make it even harder for me to manage daily life and keep up with bills, appointments, and basic necessities. Disability income barely covers the essentials, and with my worsening condition, it’s become impossible to stay afloat.
I’m asking for help because I have no other options left. Any support — whether it’s $5, $10, or simply sharing this page — would help me keep the lights on, pay for transportation to medical appointments, and stay stable as I begin this next stage of treatment.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Thank you for caring. And thank you for helping me continue to fight.
