My beloved mum, Carolyn has always been the heart of our family, filling every room with warmth, love, and kindness. Last week, our world was changed when she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her bones throughout her body.
Life has already asked her to carry a heavy burden. In 2002, she faced the heartbreaking loss of her son, my brother David, a US marine at just 19 years old. Walking through that grief was the hardest chapter of our life, yet she showed us all what true resilience, faith, and love look like. That strength is what inspires us now, as she faces this new and difficult battle.
Anyone who knows her, knows the light she carries, her brightness, her creativity, and the way she finds beauty everywhere, and humor in ordinary moments. She has taught me so much, but perhaps the greatest gift she has given is the understanding of the powerful, universal language of love. She opened my heart and mind to spirituality and showed me what it means to love unconditionally. I believe, as she has always believed, that love is the most powerful healing frequency of all. It is this love that carries us now, and it is this love that we hope will surround her through every step of this journey.
Through it all, her husband, Mario has been her steady rock, hardworking, selfless, and endlessly caring. His love and devotion to her are unwavering, and he continues to do everything he can to support and care for her, even while carrying the heavy weight of worry and responsibility on his own shoulders.
As she begins this chapter, our greatest wish is to surround her with hope, comfort, and the best care possible. But without insurance and even with insurance the treatments, medications, and specialized support she urgently needs come with overwhelming costs that our family simply cannot provide.
We are reaching out to our friends, family, and community to stand with us. Every donation, no matter the size, will help give my mom the care she needs and more precious time with those who love her most. More than anything, your support will remind her that she is not walking this path alone.
Thank you for your act of kindness and generosity.
