For the past seven years, Alberto Fernandez, Monica Nunez, and their daughters, Alana and Alma, have been part of our community and our Guidepost Montessori family. After fleeing Venezuela and seeking asylum in the United States, they built a life centered around hard work, kindness, and service to others.
Many families know “Ms. Monica” as one of the loving and compassionate teachers who helped shape Guidepost Montessori from the very beginning. She has cared for and guided children as if they were her own, teaching not only academics, but kindness, patience, and character. She embodies the qualities we hope our children will grow up to have.
Their daughters, Alana and Alma, have also grown up at Guidepost alongside our children, forming deep friendships and becoming cherished members of the school community.
Now, after years of building a life here, Ms, Monica and her family are facing the heartbreaking possibility of having to return to Venezuela within weeks due to changes affecting Venezuelan immigration protections in the United States.
We are coming together as a community to help support them during this incredibly difficult time. Funds raised will help cover urgent legal expenses for any remaining options to stay in the United States, or help provide financial support for the difficult transition back to Venezuela if necessary.
Guidepost is more than a school — it is a family of families. When one of our own is hurting, we come together to help where we can.
Any donation, no matter the size, and any sharing of this fundraiser means more than words can express. Thank you for supporting Alberto, Monica, Alana, and Alma during this uncertain time.
